Club Meetings

When:  3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm

Where:  The American Red Cross Building

Club meetings follow a standard format and last about an hour and a half. Often a presentation is given by a club member on a current or relevant topic to amateur radio.

Refreshments are offered during a short break. As a courtesy to our members and speakers, we ask that you arrive a few minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

  • General Club Meeting - You don't need to be a member to attend our General Club Meetings. The public is welcome to join us!

    • Where: The American Red Cross Building

    • May Presentation: Tom, KG8P, Will be presenting "DX Most Wanted" an overview of the rarest DX countries.  Tom has been a Ham for over 50 years and is a very accomplished DX operator with many DXCC awards that span the amateur bands.  Whether you are new to DXing or an experienced DX chaser you will find this presentation to be both entertaining and informative.

  • 2015 VE Sessions
    • VE sessions are held on the 3rd Saturday of every even month.  The sessions start at 9 AM sharp.  Please show up 15 minutes for completion of paper work.  Walk-ins are welcome.  VE sessions are held at The American Red Cross Building.  To make reservations, call or email Paul Trouten W8PI at 734-854-2224.  For more information check the licensing link in the menu on this page.
       
  • One Day Technician Class
    • There will be a one-day Technician Class held on Saturday May 2, 2015 at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum.  The class starts at 9:00 am and will run until 3:30 pm.  A license exam will be given following the class.  There is a $10.00 fee except for those under the age of 18.  Registration is required beforehand.  For further information or registration contact Dan KB6NU at cwgeek@kb6nu.com.
       
  • Michigan QSO Party
    • The MCRCA will be operating from 1200 till 2400 EDST Saturday the 18th of April during the Michigan QSO party from the radio room in the Monroe County The American Red Cross Building on Dixie Hwy.  During the QSO Party operators will be trying to make contact with as Michigan stations in as possible while taking contacts from stations in other states.  All amateurs are welcome as well as non amateurs who would like to learn about amateur radio.
       
  • MCRCA 2015 Hamfest
    • On June 21st the MCRCA will hold its annual Hamfest at the Monroe County Fair Grounds on M-50 at Raisinville Road.  There are vendor spaces located in one of the fair ground buildings and also "trunk sale" parking spaces for individuals who have items for sale from there vehicles and trailers.  For further information on the event, tickets and vendor tables click the "Hamfest" link at top on the left of the page.
       
  • ARRL Field Day
    • June 27th and 28th will find the MCRCA once again in Vienna Park located in southern Monroe County participating in this ARRL sponsored nation-wide event.  The event runs 24 hrs. from 1400 Saturday till 1400 Sunday.  The general public is invited to visit our field day event and learn about ham radio.  For further information about MCRCA'S field activities please click on the "Field Day" link on the left side of this page.

ARPSC 2-Meter Net

The net meets every Monday at 9:00pm local time on the '72 Monroe repeater - 146.72, 100Hz PL Tone.

Membership in the Amateur Radio Public Service Corp (ARPSC) is encouraged but not required for participation in this net.  All amateurs with an interest in public service and emergency communications are welcome.

The Monroe County ARPSC meets the first Thursday of each month at at 7:00 pm in the Monroe County Red Cross Building located at 1645 N Dixie Hwy Monroe.  All are welcome.
