Club Meetings

When:  3rd Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm

Where:  The American Red Cross Building

Club meetings follow a standard format and last about an hour and a half. Often a presentation is given by a club member or a guest speaker on a current or relevant topic to amateur radio.

Refreshments are offered during a short break. As a courtesy to our members and speakers, we ask that you arrive a few minutes prior to the start of the meeting.

  • General Club Meeting - You don't need to be a member to attend our General Club Meetings. The public is welcome to join us!

    • February Presentation: Tom Jenkins, KG8P will be giving a power point presentation on the ham bands that is an overview of what to expect on each band.
    • Club Dues:  Dues for 2016 are due and can be paid at the meeting.
  • 2016 VE Sessions:
    • VE sessions are held on the 3rd Saturday of every even month at The American Red Cross Building.  The sessions start at 9 AM sharp.  Please show up 15 minutes for completion of paper work.  Walk-ins are welcome.To make reservations, call or email Paul Trouten W8PI at 734-854-2224.  For more information check the licensing link in the menu on this page.
  • 2016 Muskrat Run:
    • On February 6, 2016 the 11TH annual Muskrat Run will be held at Stirling State Park.  We will be providing communications for the run.  This is a great public service event that also gives participants an opportunity to practice the deployment and operation of a remote net in an outdoor environment.  All are welcome to join us.  For further information contact Dave Buchko, AC8SI.
  • Skywarn Spotter Training Class 2016:
    • A Skywarn Spotter Training Class will be conducted by the National Weather Service April 5, 2016 from 6:00p.m. to 8:30p.m. at the Bedford Branch Library 8575 Jackman Road in Temperance.  In conjunction with the National Weather Service, Emergency Management Division and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES), volunteer Skywarn Spotters work to provide the earliest signs of possible sever weather.  Note that a spotter does not need to be a Amateur Radio Operator.  For full information and registration follow this link:  http://www.co.monroe.mi.us/government/departments_offices/emergency_management/sky_warn_spotter.html
  • ARPSC 2-Meter Net:
    • The net meets every Monday now at 8:00pm local time on the '72 Monroe repeater - 146.72, 100Hz PL Tone.  Membership in the Amateur Radio Public Service Corp (ARPSC) is encouraged but not required for participation in this net.  All amateurs with an interest in public service and emergency communications are welcome.
    • The Monroe County ARPSC will be meeting at the Monroe County Emergency Management Division facility until further notice.  The EMD is located at 987  South Raisinville Rd, Monroe, MI 48161.  Look for the tall antenna system.  The meeting will still be held the first Thursday of each month at at 7:00 pm.   All are welcome.
